Due for release nationwide on December 1, feature-length documentary film Goya-Visions of Flesh and Blood is to bring the life and artistry of Francisco Goya to the big screen for the first time. Based on the exhibition Goya: The Portraits at the National Gallery, it offers a look not only at Goya’s paintings, but also his eventful life, spanning more than 80 years. The documentary includes rare access to Goya’s Italian Notebook, as well as interviews with esteemed modern artists Dryden Goodwin and Nicola Philipps, who has painted the portrait of Princes William and Harry. There is also extensive location footage, from the beautiful countryside of Seville to the grand chapels and royal palaces of Madrid, as well as allowing the audience to step inside the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, presenting a number of significant Goya buildings and so further illuminating his relationship to Spanish high society. Directed by Phil Grabsky, who has made hundreds of films for the BBC, C4 and ITV, as well as being responsible for the first arts film in 3D.
