Watford's nightlife venues are preparing to go head-to-head as the shortlist for this year's Best Bar None awards has been announced.

Now in its ninth year, the scheme is one of the biggest in the country and champions licensed premises that provide a safe and enjoyable night out.

Best Bar None is an established competition that recognises and rewards high standards in the licensed trade.

The winners will be decided by a public vote and an inspection rating given to venues by the council. To open the voting page for each category, simply click on the image below.

In order to enter the competition, venues have to obtain a minimum 'essential' standard.

This standard is above the legal requirements and shows that venues are going above and beyond in their efforts to make sure customers have a safe and fun night out.

You can vote for any of the entered venues with the confidence that they have reached, and indeed in most cases far exceeded, these standards.

The 2015 Best Bar None competition is brought to you by Watford Pubwatch, the licensing department at Watford Borough Council and the Watford Observer.
