A colourful, hand painted mural was unveiled outside a Rickmansworth gallery last week.

The mural was put up outside of Watersmeet as a way of promoting the Artistsmeet gallery within and celebrates an ongoing art project for artists and school children in Three Rivers.

Make your Mark is a project co-ordinated by Three Rivers District Council in partnership with Berry Lane Art Group and St Peter's Church of England Primary School in Mill End.

Year six pupils from the school submitted designs, themed around their favourite memories of Rickmansworth, into a competition in the hope of their entry featuring in part of the mural, designed by Berry Lane Art Group.

As part of the project they also painted their own tiles to feature in The Big Draw exhibition.

Head teacher of the school, Philippa Golding, said: "Our children worked with Artistsmeet over several weeks. This has been a wonderful experience, not only from a creative point of view, but also for our children to be involved in adding to their local community's culture."

Three Rivers councillor Chris Lloyd said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with St Peter's Church of England School and Berry Lane Art Group for this exhibition.

"There are many talented young people studying creative subjects and this is an excellent opportunity to celebrate their work and provide them with public exposure."

To celebrate the new artwork and the partnership with the school, an informal prize giving presentation took place last Friday.
