A man armed with a screwdriver went into a couple’s bedroom while thieves swept through the rest of the home.
Four men broke into a house in Westbury Road, Watford, on Friday night, after smashing the back door window and they searched the downstairs rooms.
The men went upstairs and one, armed with a screwdriver, stood watch over the couple in their bedroom and told them not to move.
The other men searched the rooms. Hertfordshire Constabulary is investigating what has been taken.
Detective Sergeant Matt Waylett said: “Whilst thankfully the victims weren’t injured, they have understandably been left shaken by what happened.
"This type of incident is unusual and we are working hard to identify the men responsible as quickly as possible.
“We’d like to speak with anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area around the stated time. Did you see a group of men in the street or a vehicle that isn’t usually in the area?
“Please call the Local Crime Unit with any information you have as it could prove very useful to the investigation.”
Anyone with information in relation to this crime should contact the Watford Local Crime Unit via 101, quoting crime reference C1/15/5966.
