A large model angel made out of newspapers has been erected in a church in Croxley Green.

The six-foot-tall angel was brought in to All Saints Church by a member of the congregation.

The church held a crib festival over the weekend and the new figure represents a section of The Bible where an angel said to the shepherds “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people”.

The church’s vicar, Miriam Mugan, said: “The angel is about six feet tall and the wings are even taller, probably about eight feet tall.

“It really has been a talking point. The congregation love it. People have been bowled over by it and it is very poignant at this time of year because of what it is symbolising.

The angel told the shepherds about the birth of Jesus in the town of Bethlehem, saying “Today in the town of David, a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

The crib festival had an array of nativity-themed displays.
