A woman came face to face with masked burglars in her home before they left with items of jewellery.

The thieves entered the home in Ashburnham Drive through the back door at around 7.15pm on Tuesday, January 5.

They searched two bedrooms and then stole the items of jewellery.

They were then disturbed by an elderly woman living there who was at home at the time and then left.

The offenders are described as three white men, wearing dark clothing and caps, white masks and gloves.

Detective Constable Paul Burton, From the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit, said: “Although the woman was not assaulted or injured in any way, understandably this has left her very shaken up.

“I would like to speak with anyone who saw a group of men in the area or anything else suspicious around the time of the incident.

“Any detail, such as a vehicle in the area not usually there, could probe very useful to our investigation so please contact me.”

Anyone with any information can contact DC Burton via 101.
