Schools across Hertfordshire have been ranked in the top 20 in the country for the percentage of pupils at the end of Key Stage 4 who finished with A*-C grades.

The average in England of pupils achieving five or more A* to C GCSEs, including English and maths, in last summer's exams, was 57.1 per cent.

According to statistics from the Department of Education, 92 per cent of pupils from Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth achieved five or more A*-C grades including English and maths and the average point score per pupil is 490.8.

The average point score is the points given to a pupil at GCSE level, allowing their exam marks to be converted into a grade.

Parmiter’s School in Watford was second on the list, with 89 per cent of its pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, giving it a 461.9 point score average.

St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood achieved 85 per cent, with a point score average of 413.5.

Watford Grammar School for Girls pupils in Watford achieved 83 per cent, however none of its Key Stage 4 pupils achieved an English Baccalaureate.

The English Baccalaureate measures the percentage of students in a school who achieve five or more A* to C grades in traditionally academic GCSEs.

Both Watford Grammar School for Boys in Watford and St Margaret’s School in Bushey achieved 81 per cent A* to Cs including English and maths.

At Watford Grammar School for Boys, 74 per cent of pupils received an English Baccalaureate and St Margaret’s School managed 58 per cent.

With 80 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, Queen’s School in Bushey was followed by Saint Michael’s Catholic High School in Garston with 79 per cent.

The next in the list is Rickmansworth School in Rickmansworth, where pupils achieved 78 per cent, with 32 per cent receiving the English Baccalaureate.

Bottom of the list was Rudolf Steiner School in Kings Langley, where only eight per cent achieved five A*to C grades including English and maths and none received an English Baccalaureate.

Other schools on the list include Saint Joan of Arc, Kings Langley Secondary School, Bushey Meads School, Bushey Academy, Francis Combe Academy and Westfield Academy.
