Bushey has been voted number seven in the most integrated towns in England and Wales.

These results come from the Policy Exchange which compares 160 places across the country and revealed that the most integrated places tend to be prosperous suburbs or small towns.

The data revealed that the most integrated places tend not to have one single large minority group while the worst places invariably have a single group.

The more integrated, the greater the share of ethnic minorities in higher paid, managerial roles according to Policy Exchange.

Bushey, and fellow Hertsmere town Potters Bar, were ranked in the top ten with Bushey coming number seven and Potters Bar being number four. Rickmansworth was at nine on the list.

David Goodhart, head of Policy Exchange’s demography, immigration and integration unit, said: “It is critical that this country retains its traditions of openness and individual rights and some sense of mutual regard between citizens.

“That is why the government should try to promote mixed communities.”

Amersham in Buckinghamshire was rated number one and Boston in Lincolnshire fell to the bottom of the list.
