Two twin teenage boys from Watford are challenging themselves to swim the distance across the English Channel in four hours.

James and Pedro Irvine, 13, of Cassiobury Drive, are raising money to visit Mexico to help build a house with St Luke’s Church in Watford.

The twins will take part in a four-hour charity swim at Bushey Grove Pool on Sunday, February 7, where they will swim as far as they can across the English Channel.

Their mother, Wera Irvine, said: “I think they are doing great. It was their choice to do this charity swim.

They are both great swimmers. The twins swim in the County League and both go to Watford Swimming Club. One of the boys has to swim at all times. Their aim is to see how long they can swim in the English Channel in four hours.”

The twins are hoping to raise up to £2,700 and have already hit more than half of that total.

All the money raised will go to ReBuild, a charity run by the Christian group Urban Saints. Those taking part spend 11 days building a home for a family in Mexico just using hand tools.
