Sebastian Prödl hopes Watford can reward the Hornets’ fans unwavering support with the present of a victory over Premier League leaders Leicester City tomorrow.

Quique Sanchez Flores’ side welcome the Foxes to Vicarage Road (5.30pm kick-off) knowing all the pressure is on Claudio Ranieri’s team to win the game live on Sky Sports.

Leicester have surprised everybody this season to top the table after 28 matches.

It is an astonishing achievement but they know, with Tottenham Hotspur only three points behind in second place, any points that are dropped could prove decisive.

For Watford it is an opportunity to collect the victory that would take them to 40 points, the figure often deemed the benchmark for safety.

“We want to get a good result,” Prödl said. “And the best games are those when you’re challenging the best sides. It’s why we are competing in the Premier League and why we love football.

“We want to give a present to our supporters. We took around 3,000 fans to Manchester United on Wednesday night and that wasn’t an easy journey for them.

“So we want to show the supporters we can compete against Leicester. They can collect a lot of points during the rest of the season but just not at Vicarage Road.”

Prödl was restored to the Watford starting XI at Old Trafford on Wednesday and, should Craig Cathcart be unable to shake off a slight calf problem, will partner Miguel Britos against the Foxes.

Their primary job will be to stop striker Jamie Vardy – a player the Austrian defender is seemingly a fan of.

“He’s been incredible,” Prödl said. “He is very quick, is moving all the time into space and is always dangerous.

“But it’s not only him. You’ve got (Riyad) Mahrez and (Shinji) Okazaki creating a lot of doubts for the opponents’ defence. They are first in the table so we will have to pay them respect. It won’t be easy.

“They have more confidence than us but every game this season at Vicarage Road has been tough for the opponent. So they have been warned.”
