Hornets owner Gino Pozzo has already started planning on how to improve the Watford side in the summer, according to Quique Sanchez Flores.

The Golden Boys are virtually safe in the top flight having accumulated 37 points with nine games still to play.

That has allowed the Italian, Hornets CEO Scott Duxbury and sporting director Luke Downing to begin preparing for the 2016/2017 campaign.

In January the club signed Adalberto Penaranda and Abdoulaye Doucoure before loaning them to Granada.

They will link up with the Hornets squad in the summer and further additions will be made as Watford attempt to consolidate their position in the top flight.

Flores has been involved in the game long enough to know when he is on to a good thing.

And in Pozzo, the Spaniard appreciates the Hornets’ owner’s forethought and attention to details.

Flores said: “He (Pozzo) is always focused on the club and the future. He is thinking about next season because he is always preparing.

“Fans of Watford should feel safe and have complete confidence in this man.

"It is always in his mind to improve the team. It is an amazing experience to work for him.”
