Arsene Wenger has joked he has used drones to spy on training ground neighbours Watford ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter final clash between the two sides.

The Hornets take on the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium with a place in the last four at Wembley at stake.

Given the two sides close proximity - a fence separates their training pitches - it would’ve been easy for either side’s coaching staff to peek at the opposition’s pre-match preparations.

And Wenger joked in his pre-match press conference that he had gone one step further.

"Yes, all week we have used drones. Silent ones," he told FourFourTwo.com.

"No, we respect, and I think they do as well, the confidentiality of training.

"We didn't go over the fences. I was tempted to take a look but I didn't do that."

Had Wenger taken a peak then he would’ve seen that Watford continue to develop their London Colney training base, which was once used by Arsenal.

In the past year alone two stadium quality pitches have been installed, a media room has been constructed and the club’s gym is currently being renovated.

“To be honest, although it’s a stone’s throw away it feels like lightyears,” Watford skipper Troy Deeney said about the two training grounds.

“We are here but we are building each year. The media room we are in now, the gym is being done too. We are improving year on year.

“It just shows where both clubs are at this moment in time. They’re established and we are the new up and coming team.”
