Quique Sanchez Flores couldn’t put into words his feelings for the Watford supporters after almost 8,500 Hornets fans roared their side to an FA Cup quarter final victory over Arsenal.

The Golden Boys faithful had only four and a half days to secure their place at the Emirates after the Gunners overcame Hull City in their fifth round replay on Tuesday evening.

But tickets were quickly snapped up and a total of 8,247 took their place in the away stand to watch Watford defeat the Gunners courtesy of goals from Odion Ighalo and Adlene Guedioura. The Algerian’s strike was worth the admission fee alone.

The victory secures the Hornets a place in the last four of the competition and a semi-final tie at Wembley.

“I don’t have words for the fans of Watford,” a beaming Flores said in his post-match press conference.

“From the beginning of the season they’ve understood they are totally necessary in helping us achieve our targets.

“I always remember we are working for the fans. We are working hard and we are trying to represent their Watford.

“So we are very happy because we have helped the fans get to Wembley. It is a party for us. A great journey.”

Flores added: “I think this is an amazing moment for the people of Watford. For the fans, for the club and the players. And it gives us the necessary impetus for the last part of the season.”
