Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores says he will not speak to Watford owner Gino Pozzo about extending his contract until after the season has ended.

The Spaniard signed a two-year deal with the club when he took charge in the summer and his mission was to keep the Golden Boys in the Premier League.

With nine games still to play Flores is on the verge of achieving that target and as also guided the Hornets to an FA Cup semi-final.

It has inevitably led to the national press speculating as to whether Watford will be able to hang on to their head coach for the foreseeable future.

Flores and his family are very happy in England. There is little chance of him departing for pastures new and the Spaniard says he will happily sit down and discuss his future once the campaign has ended.

“I don’t like to talk about contracts when we are in the most important part of the season,” Flores said.

“I am happy and really comfortable here. I am pleased with the fans of Watford and I know how they support the team and support me.

“So it isn’t the time to talk about the contract. We will do that at the end of May with the owner.

“The owner and the staff are always in synergy. That is the most important thing.”
