MP for Hertsmere Oliver Dowden is calling for Transport for London (TfL) to provide public toilets at Bushey train station.

Train station improvements is currently one of Mr Dowden’s top campaigning priorities across the constituency.

The campaign comes after a number of his constituents contacted him about the lack of public toilets at the station.

Mr Dowden said: “I believe that Bushey is the only train station in South Hertfordshire without public toilets and I can appreciate how frustrating this must be for those who commute from Bushey on a daily basis.

“I can also see how the lack of public toilets at Bushey station could be a significant cause of concern for the elderly and the vulnerable.”

Mr Dowden is also campaigning for improved car parking facilities at Radlett train station and increase capacity at Elstree and Borehamwood station.

He has been informed by TfL that they will be reviewing the facilities at stations served by their Watford Junction-Euston services.

This review will coincide with the appointment of a new operator for the London Overground.

If a decision is made to provide public toilets this would be through the National Station Improvement Programme which is managed by Network Rail.

Mr Dowden said: “I am glad that TfL are taking this matter seriously and will now be conducting a full review into the facilities provided at Bushey station.

“I will continue to monitor developments closely and will make further representations as and when appropriate.”
