As part of the Watford Observer's partnership with Peace Hospice Care, we are showing readers inside its headquarters with this picture tour.

The Peace Drive building houses an inpatient unit, its Starlight Centre and acts as the head office for the charity, which needs to raise more than £5 million a year to offer its free services to people across Hertfordshire facing a life limiting illness.

The 12-bedroom inpatient unit offers a mixture of twin and single en-suite bedrooms, each with access to a peaceful garden area.

There is a comfortable lounge area with a kitchen and a bistro catering for patients, staff and visitors.

There is also a comfortable family room so families travelling from further afield are able to stay overnight near their loved one.

The Starlight Centre was opened in 2014 offering a range of services such as counselling and bereavement, rehabilitation and wellbeing.

An active daily programme of events takes place in the centre covering physical activity, self-management, companionship, psychological and emotional wellbeing and the creative arts.

The counselling and bereavement service offers a range of options to support adjustment to serious illness, anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement.

The hospice's community services comprises a community liaison team, hospice at home team and Herts Neighbours scheme. The community liaison team is led by a clinical nurse specialist who is the single point of contact for all clinical referrals to Peace Hospice Care.

The Hospice at Home team consists of five registered nurses and five health care assistants who visit between 15 and 18 people a day in their homes and provide specialist, expert palliative care and support. Herts Neighbours is a thriving scheme which matches patients in their homes with a volunteer to provide social support.

More than 130 staff work at Peace Hospice Care including trading, human resources, finance, volunteering managing more than 600 volunteers, an active fundraising team, education and training team, and communications department.

There are lots of opportunities to be part of the Peace Hospice Care Team. Please see the website for recruitment and volunteering opportunities: www.peacehospicecare.org.uk
