We asked each of the parties to say what they would do for Watford in 250 words. Below, Nigel Bell writes for Labour.

Thursday’s election boils down to two key questions.

Do you want to see a change for the better in Watford?

Who do you trust to stand up for Watford Hospital?

The Liberal Democrats who have run our town for the last 14 years are guilty of many failures and have reached the end of the road.

With all 36 seats up for election, Watford voters have a real opportunity to change the council and make our town an even better place.

The second largest party, Labour is the only viable alternative to the Liberal Democrats.

Labour has identified five key priorities:

1. Labour will freeze Council Tax and balance the books but we will protect the most vulnerable.

2. A school place for every child and a new secondary school to serve Watford.

3. Building more affordable homes to buy or rent 4. Cleaning up our town, stopping fly-tipping and bringing back free collection of bulky items 5. Labour will continue to stand up for our hospital and the NHS.

The fact that local NHS commissioners are consulting on moving our hospital to a different town, shows that the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are not to be trusted.

They have failed to bring the investment our hospital needs and now it is under threat. A Labour council would campaign vigorously for our Watford’s Hospital.

Labour has published a manifesto with a clear vision for our town. You can read it on our website.

Please vote for a ‘Change for the Better’ on 5th May.
