A politician is using Twitter - and getting out and about - to hear people's views

Alex Michaels has been elected by other councillors to be Abbots Langley Parish Council's chairman for 2016-17.

The busy father of a 20-month-old toddler plans to get out and meet people as much as he can, and has set up a Twitter account for the year.

He said: “From the children’s groups to schools to other community events. I am really keen to involve the community as much as possible in what goes on in the council chamber.”

Cllr Michaels, who works full-time at the British Library in London, said he is looking forward to the year ahead.

“We are here to work hard for the people of Abbots Langley and surrounding villages,” he said. “I am always keen to hear people’s views and to be challenged with new ideas.”
