A man was hit across the head with a crowbar after confronting three burglars.

Three men, all wearing bandanas, forced open the front door of a home in Rucklers Lane, Kings Langley, on Thursday May 19.

A man who was asleep inside the house at the time woke up and confronted the men.

They hit the victim across the head with a crowbar causing deep cuts. The men left the property with the jewellery and got into a black BMW 3 Series that was parked outside between 12.15pm and 12.35pm.

They drove to the M25 and headed in the direction of the M40 motorway.

The victim required stitches to his head. He was treated and discharged from hospital on the same day.

Detective Constable Peter Spiers said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw three men or the black BMW 3 Series in the area around the times stated to get in touch as you may have vital information that could help our investigation.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered the jewellery for sale.”

Anyone with information should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101.
