It has cost him thousands of pounds and taken him all over the world.

But after seeing Bruce Springsteen live 21 times in venues from America to Manchester, Chris Couper finally got to dance with Born To Run singer in the flesh - after catching his eye dressed as Courteney Cox.

The 32-year-old, of Croxley View, Watford, was plucked from the moshpit after the singer spotted his placard which read: "Would you dance with Courteney Cox if she had a (great) beard?"

Wearing a black wig, a classic Born in the USA tour shirt and blue jeans bought from Amazon, Mr Couper dressed as the Friends star, who appeared in Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark video from 1984, playing a fan invited up on stage.

A postman by day, Mr Couper still can't believe he danced with his idol. He said: "It was absolutely amazing. I have loved Bruce for 11 years and have seen him all around the world.

"I decided I wanted to try and meet him so that I could recreate the crazy dance moves from the music video. I never expected to be picked."

The superfan, who got to Wembley at 8.30am to stand in the pit, was pulled on to the stage, where he launched into an enthusiastic dance routine with his idol and was even presented with a guitar for the ultimate fan experience - prompting screams of delight from the audience.

Mr Couper is called to the stage 11 minutes in.

The devoted fan sported a huge smile throughout and was even rewarded with a hug from the man himself.

He added: "It's funny, I can't play a note on the guitar, but luckily it was not plugged in.

"I know that Bruce always pulls fans to the stage during the encore, but it has always been girls.

"In the concerts I have seen, they have never tried to recreate her silly moves or look like her, so I decided to do just that.

"The reaction has been unbelievable. Even more unbelievable was getting a hug from the man himself."

The Wembley show on Sunday the seventh Mr Couper has seen on Springsteen's current world tour.

He went to LA and Dallas before following him to Dublin, Coventry, and Glasgow.

Mr Couper, who tweeted the star to say: "if you want me to come on tour full time I am available", said the concert was the best he had ever seen.
