A Labour members meeting in Watford was cancelled last night after the attack on MP Jo Cox in West Yorkshire.
The monthly meeting was postponed after the Labour MP was shot and stabbed in an attack in her constituency in Birstall.
Chair of Watford Labour Mike Jackson said all activities around the Labour In campaign to Remain in the European Union have also been suspended until further notice.
He said: "Our thoughts are with her family and this tragic time.”
Mrs Cox, 41, a supporter of the campaign for Britain to remain in the EU, was attacked outside a library where she had been meeting residents.
Campaigning has been suspended across the country.
