A man who completed 15 marathons throughout 2015 is now planning to set off on a world adventure.

Adam Sultan, 26, of Hogarth Court, in Bushey, has spent the last ten years of his life working in the signalling department of the London Underground.

This week, Mr Sultan will set off from the London Olympic Velodrome, turning his pedals for the first time of a journey that will cover at least 46,000 miles and take up to five years.

He said: “As much as I admire and respect many of today’s modern adventures I hope my trip shows people that sometimes we need to slow down a bit and not just rush into a place, take some photos and shoot off again having ticked a list.

“I hope it inspires people to get to really know new environments and the people in them and if needed lend a helping hand.”

Mr Sultan has set himself a number of other tougher challenges to complete along the way which he hopes will continue his mission of inspiring and helping others.

At the start of 2015, Mr Sultan decided it was time to explore things beyond his career. He started working for London Underground straight out of school at 16.

He began setting himself an ongoing personal challenge, dictated by the year’s number, which he has named #LifeYears.

Last year Mr Sultan ran 15 marathons from the London Marathon to the Ugandan. During his training he began to grow passionate about running and set up the London Fun-Run series.

Now his biggest challenge lies ahead. The cycle around the world challenge will include cycling the 2014 Tour de France route, across mountain ranges including the Himalayas, Andes, Alps and Rockies.

Mr Sultan is hoping to go ‘Around the World in Eighty Ways’ working in eighty different jobs as he travels to immerse himself in different cultures.

He will be updating followers on his social media websites and he is hoping to tell the stories, raise money and awareness of charities who do not normally have a voice.

He said: “This trip harks back to an older where adventure was not just about pushing your body to the limits but was about exploration, meeting new people and discovering the world around you by immersing yourself in it.”

Mr Sultan hopes this will be the legacy of his trip and that people will fell this is just as worthy as a record breaking ride.
