A warning has been issued for potentially intense thundery downpours which are set to sweep across the county later.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning for rain which comes into force at 6pm.
It lasts until 6am on Thursday but a yellow warning for rain remains in place for the rest of the day.
A Met Office spokesman said people should be prepared for possible disruption to travel and localised flooding as well as frequent lightning.
