Two men are in hospital after two collisions on the M1 this morning.

At around 4.50am, just past J6A of the northbound carriageway, the driver of a blue Mercedes collided with the nearside barrier.

Shortly after, the driver of a white Nissan Juke collided with the nearside barrier and the Mercedes.

The driver of the Mercedes was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in a serious condition.

A passenger from the Mercedes was taken to hospital with a head injury.

The driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries.
