Three parks in the Three Rivers district have received a Green Flag Award.

Leavesden Country Park, Rickmansworth Aquadrome and Chorleywood House Estate were voted some of the best green spaces in the UK, in July 2016.

The Green Flag Award’s 20th anniversary ceremony was hosted by Three Rivers District Council, at Watersmeet Theatre.

The event included speeches from international Green Flag Award judge Chris Worman and Dr Kevin Barrett.

Chris Lloyd, cabinet member for leisure, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive three Green Flag Awards for 2016.

“This award recognises and highlights that people in Three Rivers are benefiting from green space of the very highest quality.”

The Green Flag Awards scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. The parks in the Three Rivers district were among 1,686 parks and green spaces that received an award.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to announce yet another record-breaking year for Green Flag Award parks and green spaces.

“A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for all the parks’ managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.”
