Around 20 travellers have set up camp in Rickmansworth.
The motorhomes, parked in a field next to St John's Catholic Primary School, arrived in Berry Lane sometime this morning.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said they are on site and monitoring the situation.
Three Rivers District Council said they have served notice for the travellers to move on, and if they have not left by tomorrow morning the police will be called to enforce the order.
