Southern Rail is reintroducing a limited number of trains from Watford Junction to Clapham Junction from Monday.

A temporary revised weekday timetable came into force last month after rail companies announced they would be striking.

The dispute has still not been resolved, but Southern said they would be running a number of services from next week.

Speaking about this news, Richard Harrington said: “This is some progress, but we desperately need full service back up and running.

"This dispute is completely unfair on passengers. At least we have secured a few services at peak time which will ease the inconvenience for some.”

The times are:

Watford to Clapham:

7.38

9.15

16.52

18.51

Clapham to Watford

06.38

15.39

17.39

The town's elected mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: "I'd like to thank everybody who has signed our petition and lobbied Southern Rail to bring back these trains to Watford.

"However, while this is a step in the right direction it still isn't enough to cope with the demand, and it is imperative that we keep lobbying Southern to restore the full service as soon as possible.

"This matter is far from resolved, and the limited timetable of four departures a day represents a huge loss in service compared with the regular timetable.

"I will continue to lobby both the Chief Executive of Southern Rail and the Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP for a full restoration of services, I will continue to update you as more information becomes available."
