More than 400 people visited the first ever open day held at a police station.

The Watford Police Station, in Shady Lane, opened its doors for visitors on August 21 where a number of activities and displays were on offer.

Visitors were also able to try on items of uniform and find out more about the history of policing in the county as well as having tours of the custody suite.

Sergeant Steve Alison, who organised the event, said: “It was the first time we’ve held an open day here and it was a great success. It was lovely to see so many people attend and the feedback has been very positive; we hope to make it an annual event.

"I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved and all those who attended.”

Guests were also able to witness a police dog demonstrating his skills and those who attended were also given crime prevention and cycle safety advice.
