U3A Joint Art Exhibition

The vibrant annual art exhibition by Watford and Area U3A artists opens this weekend. The University of the Third Age is a national organisation run for and by its members, those retired and semi-retired senior citizens who wish to continue to develop quality in their lives. Through Art or Craft Study Groups they present a unique view on life as mature people. Techniques represented include painting, pastels, collage, embroidery and photography. Many of the works are for sale, but the real value lies in the sharing of their endeavours, not only with family and friends, but also with the public at large.

Journey’s End

Anxiety builds in Captain Stanhope’s claustrophobic dugout as the threat of an imminent German attack looms over the battalion. As final orders are received, Stanhope must stir his men to overcome the uncertainty of the unknown, make the ultimate sacrifice and prepare to “go over the top” in a truly heart-wrenching climax. Journey’s End is a harrowing insight into the humanity of the First World War based on R. C. Sherriff’s own experiences in the trenches.
