Watford's biggest nightclub Oceana will soon be no more - after bosses announced a new name and new layout as part of a £1m rebranding excercise.

Deltic Group, which owns the venue in The Parade, has revealed plans to rename the club Pryzm, with a pledge to offer "the very best clubbing and bar experience".

Work to convert Oceana into Pryzm will begin in next month, with the official launch scheduled for November 18.

General manager, Tom Miell, said: “Oceana has been part of Watford’s late night entertainment for eight years but it’s time to move on.

"The town has grown and evolved over the years and deserves the very best we can offer in terms of a clubbing and bar experience."

Deltic Group has promised the revamp will also create 80 new jobs, including waiters and waitresses offering table service.

Oceana will be repaced by Pryzm club and a separate Steinbeck & Shaw bar, which will open from 5pm to 1am, seven days a week.

Mr Miell added: “These are two very different venues that will operate as individual businesses.

"Steinbeck & Shaw is more laid-back with a cool vibe, giving people a great place to go and socialise after work.

"PRYZM, on the other hand, will be more about creating that big night out occasion, where customers can let their hair down after a busy week.”

PRYZM Watford will be the ninth to open in the UK, the first was Bristol, followed by Brighton, Cardiff, Kingston upon Thames, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham and Plymouth.

Steinbeck & Shaw was first launched in Canterbury in August 2015, followed by Hull, Bristol and Cardiff.

The venue will continue to trade as Oceana until Saturday, November 12. WooWoo bar will close its doors on Monday, October 24.
