A swing specifically designed for disabled users has been damaged.
The incident took place at the playing field in Toms Lane, Bedford, between midday on October 8 and 12.20pm on October 10.
A hole has been cut into the swing, which has been expected to cost a three-figure sum for the damage to be fixed.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Barry Eldridge said: “This senseless behaviour has caused a great deal of upset."
Hertfordshire Constabulary have appealed for anyone with information to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference C2/16/2743.
