Around 20 decorated pumpkins were smashed and thrown at a family home.

Each year Louisa and Gary Morgan, of Lock Cottage, in Kings Langley, hold a pumpkin party for their friends and family to decorate a pumpkin and have it on display outside their house.

For the past three years the couple have made this party a tradition but last Saturday, 20 of the pumpkins were smashed and hurled at their home breaking one of their windows.

Watford Observer:

Mrs Morgan, 37, said: "It was very upsetting because they deliberately had thrown the pumpkins at the window to smash it.

"We were at home and heard a loud thud but because occasionally the canal boats hit the side of the canal we did not think anything of it. Then we heard another thud.

"We went outside to see what was happening and 20 pumpkins had been smashed and thrown at our house.

"I have always felt like a lovely village but after that I started to get worried and thinking we should maybe lock the letter box and the cat flap in case they put fireworks through.

"I got really worried and upset but I am alright now."

The window which smashed luckily did not hit any one inside the house but only the night before her brother and his two-month old baby had left the house.

Watford Observer:

This is the first time the couple have had any trouble with their pumpkin displays and spend Monday, which also happened to be Mrs Morgan's birthday, clearing glass and trying to recover as many pumpkins as possible.

She said: "People passing see them and enjoy them saying they love seeing them.

"It is that time of year where it is starting to get darker and colder. It is near my birthday but we have a pumpkin party instead of celebrating my birthday.

"One of the pumpkins is now made out of three different smashed ones. Most of the pumpkins designed by the children have been smashed but we have had a lot of support from people we do not even know.

"Everyone has been really kind."

Some people from Kings Langley have now begun to donate newly designed pumpkins to put on display.

Watford Observer:

Police were reported and searched the area but the suspects were not found.
