Which dental practice told a patient they weren’t welcome anymore and who complained about having unnecessary holes drilled into their teeth?

The worst rated dentists in south west Hertfordshire have been revealed, based on patient reviews on NHS Choices.

Watford Orthodontics, in the Parade, High Street, Watford

Rating: 1 star

One person felt strongly about the treatment they received and declared their trip to the dentist was a “total waste of time, effort and money”. They also complained about having to wait more than 40 minutes for a five minute consultation appointment on braces that cost them £70.

Another commenter was “shocked” about how their children were treated, but didn’t reveal too many details as they just simply said: “Don't take your children there, I wouldn't recommend you go.”

Oasis Dental Care Ltd, in St Albans Road, Watford

Rating: 2 stars

This dental practice was criticised for the cost of treatment, as some of the reviewers felt the clinic “cared more about money than people”.

Someone said they were “kicked off the list for being in hospital” and told they were “not welcome anymore” after cancelling their appointment three times due to having complications with a pregnancy.

Another person felt it was the “worst dental clinic ever”, as they said they paid for their teeth to be examined, but were not pleased that they didn’t receive an x-ray or a date for their next appointment during the examination.

Bushey Dental Surgery- Smith and Luck, located along Bushey High Street

Rating: 1 star

One person slammed the dental surgery for making them wait three weeks for an appointment to redo a filling that was “messed up”. They were also unhappy with the way they were spoken to over the phone when trying to make a booking.

White House Dental Practice, Lower Road, Chorleywood

Rating: 2.5 stars

One reviewer simply pleaded: “Do not go to this dentist” as they believed the dentist drilled unnecessary holes in their teeth and then told them to brush more.

A second commenter was also “not impressed” by being “pushed to have treatment that is not necessary. They added they once had to cancel their two-year-old’s appointment after the child vomited but were then told they may still be charged anyway.

Practice manager at Oasis Dental Care Watford, Smita Patel, responded to the feedback.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent body that assesses healthcare providers, produced a stringent and robust review of Oasis Dental Care in Watford, and found that customers were very happy with the service we provided. In particular, staff were praised for their patience, friendly approach and transparency.

“The CQC report also noted that patients at our practice are encouraged to ask questions and treatment options are clearly explained and discussed in detail. We were also commended on our booking process and systems in place to ensure staff are adequately supported.

“We provide regular and ongoing clinical training for all of our dentists to ensure high standards are maintained, and we continue to provide transparent and easy-to-understand pricing. We publish all of our prices in highly visible positions in the practice and on our website.

“Oasis Dental Care Watford remains committed to providing a friendly, honest and expert dental service, with the utmost importance placed on clinical excellence and patient care.”
