The man at the centre of the Northolt siege has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
The three-day siege between armed police and 46-year-old Jason Matthews, who had barricaded himself inside his Wood End Lane home surrounded by petrol, was brought to a “safe conclusion” on Sunday evening when officers stormed the property.

He was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis, affray, and offences under the explosives act, and was taken to a west London police station for questioning before being detained under the Mental Health Act.
Police confirmed today that Matthews has been bailed to return to Acton Police Station at a date in mid-December while a mental health assessment is completed.
Police cordons at the address have now been removed. Work is still ongoing though as Ealing CID officers continue to examine the crime scene.
