Tyre slashers have targeted a road and vandalised seven cars.

Motorists in South Way, in Abbots Langley discovered their cars had tyres slashed, just weeks after a similar attack in the same road.

Debra Steel Chalk, 58, who lives in South Way, woke to the sound of her son’s van alarm at around 2.20am on November 2.

Her son, Dominic Chalk, 24, had both his work van and Rover 214 parked in the parking bays in South Way when the incident happened.

Watford Observer:

Ms Steel Chalk, who has lived in South Way for 30 years, said: “They slashed three of my son’s tyres and must have knocked his work van in the process, which set the alarm off. This then scared them off, so the van was left untouched.

Ms Steel Chalk and her neighbour Pam Wray watched the incident unfold on CCTV the following day. She said: “They weren’t in a rush. They took their time going around the cars slashing each tyre.”

Her other son, Laurence Chalk, had also parked his Nissan Micra in the parking bay and one of his car tyres had also been stabbed that morning.

According to Ms Steel Chalk and Ms Wray, seven cars were targeted, with 12 tyres slashed.

She said: “The boys were quite angry, but not quite as angry as me. The dog barked before the alarm went off, but she can often do that so I took no notice. It wasn’t until the alarm went off that I thought something was wrong.”

Only the Nissan Micra and Rover 214 have been reported to police so far. Hertfordshire Constabulary have asked for anyone with information to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
