A group opposing the impending demolition of two much-loved adventure playgrounds is taking its plea to the Royal Court of Justice.

With demolition of the Harebreaks and Harwoods facilities due to begin on Monday, the SWAPs (Save Watford’s Adventure Playgrounds) group is putting in a last-ditch bid to protect the disabled-inclusive playparks from destruction.

A Court of Appeal hearing has been scheduled for Friday.

“If we don’t get this injunction then we give up, it’s finished,” said activist Sophie Wilson.

However the SWAPs group is determined to create more disability-inclusive parks in the town even if the two current adventure playgrounds are knocked down, and is currently in the process of setting up a charity to explore possible locations.
