A dazzling display of Christmas luminescence has been drawing crowds to a Croxley Green house - raising money for a local disablity charity in the process.

The Winton Drive home of retired couple Leno and Margaret Pulis has been adorned with a glitzy light display every year for the last decade or so, with Saturday’s big switch-on drawing neighbours from across the community.

The couple are also doing their bit for learning disability charity Watford Mencap, having collected more than £200 in donations so far.

Leno, who was a carpenter by trade before his retirement, hand-crafted a crib from scratch as part of a nativity scene for this year’s display.

“My husband has been doing this for years so about three years ago we thought about doing it for charity,” said Mrs Pulis.

“He loves the creativity of it. It’s really nicely done, people have been really impressed by it. We started with a few lights and it’s just grown.

“The neighbours all wait for my husband to start making it. We live close to a school so we get a lot of schoolkids passing the house and coming in the driveway to have a look. They love it.

The Pulises have a disabled grandson - 11-year-old Declan – who receives care from Mencap so the charity was the obvious choice for their support.

“They have been so helpful to him,” she adds.

The family are inviting members of the public to come and have a closer look at their display and the hand-made crib, donating to Watford Mencap if they are able.
