A heroic ten-year-old called 999 after his mother had a fit and collapsed.
After Julie Elliot, of Greenbank Road, Watford, suffered her first epileptic fit, Robert, who was 10 at the time, immediately called an ambulance.
He explained what happened over the phone and then cared for his mother while reassuring his six-year-old brother Matthew, until paramedics arrived around ten minutes later.
11-year-old Robert was awarded a chief scout commendation for his bravery and courage by North Watford Cubs, on November 28.
Ms Elliot, 42, said: “I was so proud of Robert and still am. I know now, that even if I was in a worse situation I could always rely on him to do the right thing.
“I was so impressed that he knew exactly what to do and looked after his brother and myself so well – he was only 10.
“I’m so glad he’s finally received his award; he deserves it and I’m glad his bravery has been recognised.”
