Businesses are being told they can sponsor a roundabout across the borough as part of a new enterprising drive.
A select number of roundabouts across Hertsmere are now available for sponsorship and these roundabouts have been chosen due to their location and high traffic flow rate.
The move is one of a range of enterprising initiatives being adopted by Hertsmere Borough Council to generate revenue.
Cllr Seamus Quilty said: "We are looking at alternative ways to generate income and sponsorship boards on roundabouts is just one of the ways we are working more innovatively.
"We have some attractive sites - which this scheme will help us maintain and improve. These sites are seen by hundreds of thousands of pedestrians and drivers every day and it could be the perfect opportunity for local companies to promote their business and show their support for the local area.”
The roundabouts with advertising boards, which range from £3,000 to £4,000 per year depending on location, are:
Civic Offices/Shenley Road, Borehamwood
Shenley Road – Tesco/McDonald's, Borehamwood
A1 Junction - Newark Green/Rowley Lane, Borehamwood
Barnet Lane/Furzehill Road/ Farriers Way, Borehamwood
Elstree Hill South/Centennial Way, Elstree
Aldenham Road/The Avenue, Bushey
St Peter's Triangle, Bushey
South Mimms Services, South Mimms
Trotters Bottom/St Albans Road, Potters Bar
