Fullerians fell to a 32-12 defeat to league leaders Tring in London One North at the weekend.

Fullers knew they were up against it with Tring remaining unbeaten for the season after 12 games.

Full-back Dan Evans was sin-binned early for a high tackle and the hosts were 20 points down in a matter of minutes.

Once back to their full 15, Fullers started to compete and were worthy of their score when Luke Jacobs was on hand to take the ball over the line with Evans gaining the conversion.

Fullers could have scored again after an interception by hooker Drew Horne but the covering Tring defence was able to scramble back to prevent him scoring.

But it was the visitors who struck next, scoring a couple more tries to secure their lead.

In the final 20 minutes, it was all the home side but they failed to fully capitalise on their opportunities.

Tring defended well but Fullers did have the last say with a quickly worked move from the lineout saw Tom Fawssett in space and he used his power and guile to score in the corner.

Fullerians’ head coach Rich Hoskins said: “We gave Tring too much respect in the first 20 minutes and they scored easily and they deserve to be top of the table.

“However, we played with better intensity as the game progressed and grew in confidence to put Tring under pressure and we deserved to get something from the game. Our young team is learning and we take this confidence into next week’s game away to Chingford.”

Fullerians face Chingford tomorrow before finishing the calendar year by travelling to Old Priorians on December 17.
