A man had been dead for around a month before his body was found in his flat.
William Redmond, of Bickerton House in Pumphouse Crescent, Watford, was found on his living room floor on August 11, 2016.
Today, an inquest heard that a concerned neighbour had raised the alarm with police, after realising she had not seen the 44-year-old in the past month.
After breaking down his door, police found Mr Redmond lying in the living room with smashed glass around his hand – they believe he had been carrying a glass when he fell. There was also a large blister visible on his back.
PC Natalie Manning, the only person present at the inquest, said the flat was untidy when she arrived and Mr Redmond’s letter box was overflowing with unopened mail.
Because his body was so heavily decomposed, a cause and time of death could not be determined, Hatfield Coroners’ Court heard today.
Coroner Geoffrey Sullivan recorded an open conclusion.
