Siemens has apologised for the length of time it is taking to repair several train carriages damaged by a landslide last year.

Two people were injured when a train was derailed by the landslide near Watford Junction in September.

A train travelling in the opposite direction was also damaged when it clipped the stranded locomotive.

Eight carriages from the two trains required “bespoke repairs” according to Siemens, leading to a shortage of seats on a number of rush hour services in recent weeks.

It is not known when the broken carriages will be returned to service.
