Hertfordshire Police says its response to yesterday's terror attack in London will include a "strong visible police presence across the county to provide reassurance to all communities and to protect the public from harm".

Five people died and at least 40 were injured after an attacker drove a car along a pavement in Westminster and stabbed a policeman to death, before being shot dead by police in the grounds of Parliament.

A Herts Police statement said that while there was "no specific threat to the county", the force "continues to work to protect and reassure our communities as well as taking sensible measures to enhance the security of police officers".

The force also encouraged the public to be vigilant and if they had any concerns to contact them.

"Our thoughts are of course with the officer and members of the public’s families, friends and colleagues," it added.
