The UK's most tattooed man helped police to track down Watford striker Troy Deeney's stolen £180,000 Lamborghini.

The 'King of Ink Land', otherwise known as Mathew Whelan, 37, called officers when he saw the vehicle outside his secure car park in Birmingham.

He said: "I called West Midlands Police and reported a suspicious individual by our secure car park and challenged him.

"It was around 15 to 20 minutes when I noticed a police car arrive, then another one and then another three.

"I gave the police my security electronic key so they could gain access and we them found Troy Deeney's stolen Lamborghini.

"We're both Birmingham city fans so I am delighted that it will be returned to him.

"I just hope they catch the people that have committed crimes against someone who I have a lot of respect for, especially his rise from where he has come from to where he is now."

The Premier League striker who has a tattoo of his boyhood club, Birmingham City FC on his leg, was blasted by fans for boasting about his luxury birthday purchase last summer.

The skipper was also alleged to have been involved in a violent feud in February outside a Birmingham nightclub where it was claimed he was threatened by police with pepper spray.

King of Ink added: "The man span me a tale about his friend and then drove off when he thought I had gone in but something didn't sit right with me, hence wanting to log the incident.

"After reporting the incident to 101 I thought nothing more as I believed I would pick it up with the community police team the following day.

"Being one of three directors of the developments residential committee I always have the best intentions for the development because we've had various crimes here over the past several years."
