Long-term injured referee Lee Probert may feel somewhat at home when he makes his Premier League comeback at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Watford have had enough injury problems of their own during this campaign, but few as bad as the one which kept Probert out of all officiating last season.

His re-introduction to the professional game has only allowed him appointments in the FA Cup, Football League Trophy and League One and Two since his comeback, and his first top-flight game since 2015 will be Saturday's crunch fixture with suffering Sunderland.

His last Premier League game was Hull's 0-0 draw with Manchester United on the final day of the 2014/15 season, a game which saw the Tigers relegated.

The one-time FA Cup final referee has previous with the Hornets, having controversially sent off Gabriel Angella in the second minute of a game against Bournemouth in the Championship - and the Cherries' 2-0 win went some way towards helping them clinch the title at Watford's expense that season.

This year, has dished out 50 bookings across his 25 games, as well as four red cards - although three of those have come in his last four games.
