Warning: This video contains images which some viewers may find distressing
The terrifying moment a cyclist is wiped out by a huge lorry – despite riding in a clearly designated cycle lane – has been caught on camera.
Damien McGrath was riding through Watford on his morning commute when the lorry he was cycling alongside begins to pull to its left, knocking him off his bike and sending him sprawling to the pavement.
The video shows him screaming in agony until a passer-by arrives on the scene and calls an ambulance.
The driver of the lorry did not stop.
The alarming encounter, in which Mr McGrath sustained injuries to his back and hip as well as badly cut knees, was captured by a rear-mounted camera on his bike.
The urban planner said he no longer feels safe cycling to work after being hit by a vehicle for the second time in five months, despite his bike being illuminated by both front and rear lights.
The incident occurred in St Albans Road on March 6.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said officers were aware of the incident and had been in contact with Mr McGrath.
