A “vexatious” councillor has been banned from entering council property and has had his official e-mail revoked.

Croxley Green Parish councillor Robert Ridley has also been banned from contacting the council, unless it is in writing to the chairman or clerk, and is not allowed to comment on the council’s social media pages.

The decision follows a Croxley Green Parish Council meeting on March 30, in which councillors considered his conduct and deemed it in breach of their social media policy.

His behaviour on the council’s social media pages was seen to be bringing its reputation into “disrepute” and he was accused of harassing a fellow councillor over email.

And it is not the first time cllr Ridley has breached the council’s conduct.

In March 2013, cllr Ridley was deemed to be "pernicious and pestilent" and was told he could not enter council buildings except for meetings, and in 2014, he was banned from entering council property and removed from a council committee.

And in 2011, cllr Ridley was told to “stop acting like a spoilt child” at a meeting, where he was insisting the council investigate all 39 items on his agenda – an investigation that would have taken 296 hours and cost £6,000, according to a fellow councillor.

Cllr Ridley will continue to represent the Dickinsons ward in Croxley Green and the matter will be reviewed in 12 months.

Cllr Ridley has been contacted for a comment.
