Two brothers are hoping to win seats on Hertfordshire County Council next month – bucking the political allegiance of their father.
Phil and Tim Williams, both former Conservatives, are standing as Liberal Democrat candidates at the May 4 election.
Politics certainly runs in the family as their father Graham was a former Conservative county councillor and chairman of Three Rivers District Council.
Tim is standing in the Stanborough Woodside division in Garston, where he hopes to succeed longstanding councillor Derek Scudder who is retiring after 16 years of service.
Phil is standing for the newly created Three Rivers Rural seat which covers most of Chorleywood, Sarratt and Bedmond.
Hertfordshire Liberal Democrat leader Cllr Stephen Giles Medhurst said: “Tim and Phil would both make fantastic county councillors and I hope to welcome to the Lib Dem group after May’s elections.”
