A lamb which fell into a water tank was saved from “certain death” after an amateur photographer stumbled upon it.
Iain Nibbsy, 51, of Kings Langley, was on a photoshoot in a bluebell wood near Ashridge on Saturday evening when he was drawn to a field by the bleating of lambs.
He walked towards a large water tank and saw one of the young animals had fallen in.
Seeing there was no way it could possibly escape on its own, Mr Nibbsy climbed over a fence, grabbed the lamb by the scruff of the neck and hoisted it out.
He said it must have been in the tank for a while as it was “weak and cold” but he waited until it had recovered and it then scurried off in search of its mother.
To prevent a repeat occurrence, he replaced the tank cover and made sure it was secure before heading on his way.
Iain sent his photos in to the Watford Observer Camera Club, which can be found on Facebook here.
