With the first Bank Holiday of May fast approaching, typically pessimistic Brits may be forgiven for thinking the three-day weekend is likely to be one blighted by downpours.
And with the recent downturn in good weather - some areas of England even saw a sprinkling of snow earlier this week - the evidence for another washout weekend was there for all to see.
However the Met Office has revealed some good news ahead of the May Day Bank Holiday.
While the weekend won’t be the heatwave we all want, temperatures are predicted to creep back up into the 20s by early next week.
Earlier this month, south west Hertfordshire was hit by a mini-heatwave as parts of the county roasted in temperatures reaching 25C.
